Do you have a picky eater, or what I like to call "selective eater," on your hands? I know I do!

Did you know it's actually developmentally appropriate for children between ages 2 and 5 to develop a habit of picky eating? Taste buds begin shutting down as the body becomes more mobile. This is also evolutionary based because we are designed to look out for danger, including potentially poisonous foods. At around 5-years old, children commonly begin to eat new foods as long as parents don't interfere with this process.

You want your child to eat healthy but you also know you can't force them to eat something they don't want to. So you may resort to begging, pleading, and bargaining with them just to eat one more bite. It doesn't feel right in the moment but you don't know what else to do because you're worried about their health. If this sounds like you, don't miss today's video where I break down some mistakes you might be making with your picky eater than can actually make things worse and practical tips to use at the table.
