Gabions for slope stabilization - preparing the ground with an excavator

In this video, I show you how I prepared the slope with an excavator for the construction of my gabion wall. The 30-metre-long slope became 2 meters narrower and at the same time over 2 meters higher. As the loamy soil was very wet and heavy, I had to work with a larger 5.5-ton excavator from the second day onwards.

The focus is on the earthworks that are necessary for the stable base of the gabion wall. I explain how the slope was removed, the soil spread and the base prepared for the gabions. Despite heavy rainfall and difficult conditions, I successfully worked the slope to create a stable foundation for the gabions.
