In this video I will explain how to formulate and apply your own dormant oil spray for fruit trees.
Apply this on a calm day (no wind) wearing protective eye wear at a minimum and thoroughly saturate all areas of trunk/ branches which may be harbouring pests.
The goal, with properly applied dormant oil spray, is that the fruit tree is rendered free of harmful bugs as well as their eggs and fungal spores.
This recipe should address: scale nymphs, spider mite eggs, aphids, leafrollers, and tent caterpillars.
This recipe has been proven for me on the following fruit trees: crabapple, apple, plum, pear, quince & currants but it should also work on any other fruit trees, ornamentals and shrubs b/c it's NOT entering the fruit tree it's simply suffocating the pests that live in the bark's cracks/crevices!
There are optimal time windows to apply the spray, I’ll explain what needs to happen BEFORE and AFTER the application so that you can be sure your timing is right on!
For each gallon (~4 liters) of water you add these 3 ingredients:
1 cup veg oil
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon pure castile soap
