St. Cloud FL events for August 2022 including back to school for kids in St. Cloud FL. This is presented by Jeanine Corcoran broker for Corcoran Connect. Jeanine is joined by her co-host Kristin Macari owner of Studio Nine 13. This is the 27th episode of Discover St. Cloud Florida.
Kristin and Jeanine want to talk about all the events happening in St. Cloud during August. Kristin started by saying the biggest event happening this month is the kids going back to school. Schools in St. Cloud start on Wednesday, August 10th.
Kristin said open houses are coming up starting with the high schools. They begin on Friday, August 5th. All high schools in Osceola County will have their open house from 4 – 7 PM.
The incoming freshmen will have their orientation for Harmony High School on Tuesday, August 2nd. They will have two sessions, one at 8:30 AM and one at 1:30 PM. These are in addition to the open houses. The orientation for St. Cloud high school was last week so that already took place.
Kristin then moved on to the middle schools and K-8 schools. They have their open houses on Monday, August 8th from 4 – 7 PM. On the night of Tuesday, August 9th which is the night before school starts all the elementary schools will have their open houses from 3 – 6 PM.
Kristin then asked Jeanine what events are happening in St. Cloud for August? Jeanine said on August 4th there is an event called “Thrive Thursday” from 6:30 – 7:30 PM at Hopkins Park on 17th Street. They will have healthy cooking demos, and exercise routines leading to the best path to a healthier and happier you. She said it is sponsored and facilitated by Help Against Hunger.
Then on Saturday, August 6th from 11 – 1 PM Kristin said there is a back-to-school event at Staples Plaza. This event is hosted by Hero For Kids and it is free. She said it is the 4th Annual event. St. Cloud families will be able to register for free backpacks and school supplies. Last year in 2021, they registered over 400 families and distributed over 700 backpacks at the event, and ultimately gave over 1,000 backpacks with school supplies.
Jeanine then added there is another event with a similar name called the “Back To School Bash” hosted by the Parks and Recreation. It takes place on Saturday, August 6th as well from 10 – 2 PM. You pre-register with the Parks and Recreation which is on 17th Street at Hopkins Park.
Kristin announced the next event to take place on Thursday, August 11th at 6:30 PM. This is for residents of St. Cloud. There is a city council meeting and she said these are important to attend. Kristin said people like to complain about a lot of things and then don’t get involved. This is your chance to get involved. You can attend and hear what is going on. Be a part of the solution.
For people who are getting married any time soon on Sunday, August 14th from 1 – 4 PM the Ranch at St. Cloud is holding a Wedding Expo and open house event Jeanine said. She attended a wedding at this venue and said it was beautiful.
Kristin stated that on Wednesday, August 17th from 12:30 – 4 PM there is an adult movie matinee. The featured film will be “The Irishman” starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino. The movie is rated R and takes place at the St. Cloud Community Center on 17th Street.
Jeanine said the next event is on the same day, Wednesday, August 17th at 3:00 PM. There will be a St. Cloud code enforcement meeting if people care to go. It will be held at the St. Cloud Community Center in building A on the 3rd floor.
