Listening comprehension is one of the challenging skill to develop, especially in the beginning of the language learning journey. The speakers might speak super fast or you might not know as many vocabs and phrases.
In this video, I share 5 easy steps and 3 tips to help you improve listening skill in a foreign language. By listening to something, I broadly mean two levels: 1. Listening with a visual and textual aid (TV series, movies, news with subtitle and transcript) 2. Listening without the visual and textual aid (Podcasts, audiobooks, and actual conversation with people)
I spend the vast majority of time talking about Level 1 because this is more suitable for the beginners and intermediates. In other words, it's much harder to understand a medium with just auditory experience that is podcasts and audiobooks. So I thought it would be better to drill the level 1 before jumping into level 2. But at step 5, we are discussing passive listening, which is basically the level 2 listening.
