In this video we show you what happens when you squish instant film in the spots it specifically says not to squish.

All the Fuji instax film packs (mini, wide and square), have areas on the cartridge marked with "no thumb" icons - indicating you shouldn't press there.

Using a brand new pack of instax wide (though this should also apply to mini and square) we pushed super hard on those areas then put the film into a camera and took some shots.

From our basic testing it doesn't appear to negatively effect the film.

It's possible that doing this in bright sunlight (as opposed to our studio) might change the results. My guess is that you're not supposed to push there because it could deform the dark slides and allow light to hit the photos (which is why they don't want you pressing there).
